Best Time to Visit Rishikesh for Yoga and Meditation

By Yogishri ·

There is no wrong time to practice, but the seasons in Rishikesh change the experience a great deal. Here is what to expect through the year.

October to November

After the monsoon the air is clear, days are warm and evenings cool. For many visitors this is the most comfortable time for a long stay of daily practice.

December to February

Winter mornings are cold and can be foggy, while afternoons are often bright and pleasant. It is a quieter season — good for a focused, inward period of practice if you bring warm layers.

March to April

Spring brings mild temperatures and long, bright days. It is a popular time to visit, and Rishikesh hosts yoga gatherings in early spring, so book accommodation early.

May to June

The pre-monsoon months are hot, with afternoon temperatures that can approach 40°C. Practice early in the morning and in the evening, and keep well hydrated.

July to September

The monsoon brings heavy rain, lush green hills and fewer visitors. Travel in the region can be disrupted by landslides on mountain roads, so keep plans flexible.

If you cannot travel

You can practice with a teacher in Rishikesh at any time of year through live online yoga and online meditation.
