Pranayama in the Netra Tantra
A talk in Hindi, with an English summary.
Talk in Hindi · 3 min · 10 August 2023 · प्राणायाम — नेत्र तंत्र
Summary
In the Netra Tantra, pranayama begins only after the physical breath has been trained and the posture (asana) has become steady. Then the gross sense of the breath is let go: no more effort. At this point, Yogi Shri explains, the sense of time and space begins to fade, and the breath becomes so subtle that it is hard to tell whether it is moving at all.
What is felt instead is energy — a different kind of body. Nothing needs to be done. Later even this subtle sense is let go, and a new energy appears.
Key points
- Pranayama follows the training of the physical breath and a steady posture.
- Drop the effort; let the breath become subtle.
- Time and space fade; energy is felt instead of breath.
- Finally even the subtle is let go.
