Yoga
Asana, pranayama and the foundations of a steady daily practice.
Yoga is a complete discipline of body, breath and attention. Asana steadies the body, pranayama refines the breath, and together they prepare the mind for concentration and meditation.
Foundations
- Asana — postures practiced with steadiness and ease (sthira sukham asanam).
- Pranayama — regulation and refinement of the breath.
- The eight limbs — yama, niyama, asana, pranayama, pratyahara, dharana, dhyana and samadhi.
- Regularity — a modest daily practice outweighs occasional intensity.
How Yogi Shri teaches it
In Yogi Shri’s classes, yoga is taught the way every session is taught: an interactive exploration of the subject, followed by a practice, then time to share experience and receive personal guidance. The classical texts — the Bhagavad Gita, the Yoga Sutras, the Upanishads and the tantric scriptures — are studied for what they mean in daily practice.
