Yoga in Rishikesh

Rishikesh is full of yoga schools. What makes a class worth travelling for is the teacher. At Sanatan Yoga Vidya Kendra in Dhalwala, classes are taught by its founder, Yogi Shri G. Niranjan, who has practiced since the age of fourteen in the Bihar School of Yoga tradition and taught for more than 25 years. The approach is traditional: yoga as a complete discipline of body, breath and awareness.

What you will practice

• Asana — classical postures with attention to steadiness and ease, adapted to your body.
• Pranayama — breathing practices that refine energy and calm the mind.
• Meditation — concentration and awareness, including techniques from the Vigyan Bhairav Tantra.
• The teaching behind the practice — the Yoga Sutras, the Bhagavad Gita and the tantric texts, explained for daily life.
